About Us

The Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta (DSAA) is a non-profit organization that provides education, awareness, support, and advocacy to individuals with Down syndrome and their families.  It serves the Metro-Atlanta area, which includes the following counties:  Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, Clayton, Fayette, Coweta, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Cherokee, Rockdale, Henry, Newton, Troup, Douglas, Oconee, Spalding, Paulding, and Floyd.  Membership dues are paid on an annual basis and new families are free for the first year.  Membership is for all individuals living in a household.  In 2009 there are 500 families who are members.  DSAA welcomes anyone interested in Down syndrome to be a member (professionals, grandparents, extended family members, etc.).

DSAA has two employees:  an Executive Director and an Executive Assistant.  Much of the work of the organization is done by members and volunteers. 

The annual budget for DSAA is around $250,000.  DSAA is funded by member dues, donations, grants, memorial gifts, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising.  The major fundraising event each year is the annual Buddy Walk.
