Overview

The Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta (DSAA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to

  • Support: Reaching and assisting parents of children with Down syndrome through expectant and new parent programs, social events, and a network of local group
  • Early Intervention: Linking new families to other families, the Emory Down Syndrome Clinic, Parent to Parent, and Babies Can't Wait so that young children with Down syndrome receive services early
  • Education: Providing information and learning opportunities on topics relevant to individuals with Down syndrome and their families
  • Awareness: Promoting public awareness and educating better understanding of Down syndrome, its problems, its possibilities and its developments in education and treatment
  • Advocacy: Insisting that apprporiate programs for people with Down syndrome are available in all aspects of their lives, including education, recreation, worship, employment, and independent living; protecting and promoting the rights of people with Down syndrome; informing parents and the public about all legislation affecting people with developmental disabilities; and addressing social policy issues and conditions to enable persons with Down syndrome to become productive and important members of their communities
