About the Down Syndrome of Atlanta
(DSAA)
The Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta was created
by metro-Atlanta parents in 1979 in an effort to provide support
and education to families who had children with Down syndrome.
We continue today as a source of information and support to
families, as well as working to promote public awareness and
encouraging a better understanding of Down syndrome and individuals
with Down syndrome. We rely solely on donations, member dues
and fundraisers to continue this important and meaningful work
for the community.
Mission Statement: DSAA enhances the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families through support, education, advocacy and awareness.

We have five primary programs:
| |

|
Support new parents with an informational
packet, telephone contact, and personal visits. Assist
new parents in meeting other parents who live near
them..
|

|
Hold a bi-annual educational conference bringing together
parents and professionals with the latest information regarding
health, research, education, therapies, behavior management
strategies, and advocacy.
|

|
Provide financial support to parent groups affiliated with
DSAA.
|

|
Publish a bi-monthly newsletter that provides updated
information to our membership regarding education, research,
health, family issues, advocacy opportunities, and social
events.
|

|
Maintain our web site to provide information to a wide
audience
